Greetings Fellow Photographers!
Today I want to give you a little information about the two most popular free photo organization and editing tools: Picasa and iPhoto. iPhoto is a Mac-only tool that comes pre-installed on all Mac computers. Picasa is a tool developed by Google that you can download and install for free on your PC or Mac. They also have a web-based version, but today I will refer to the software version. Read on for more info about each tool, as well as a new summer photo contest!
Picasa
Picasa lets you organize, edit, share, and order photos from your PC. Once you install it, Picasa will automatically import your PC’s photos and organize them in the same folder structure as your hard drive. View slideshows, create collages, make movies, and geo-tag your photos to save the location of the photo within the photo’s file data. You can also order prints and fun creative products of your photos directly through Picasa: select the photos, then click “Shop” at the bottom. Choose “LifePics” as your Provider and enter your account email and password. Picasa will place the photos in your cart so you can complete the order.
